The short version
Just Plain Text collects nothing. GÜNES CONSULTING OÜ, which makes Just Plain Text, receives no data from the app: not your notes, not your name or your email address, no analytics and no crash reports.
There is no account to create and nothing to sign in to.
Where your notes are
Your notes and groups are on your device.
If you buy iCloud Synchronization and leave it on, a copy is also kept in the private database of your own iCloud account, under your Apple Account. Apple keeps it for you. We cannot read it, list it or ask Apple for it.
Locked groups
The notes of a locked group are encrypted (AES-256). The key that opens them is made on your device and kept in your Keychain. If iCloud Keychain is on, Apple brings the key to your other devices, end-to-end encrypted. The key is never stored with your notes: a copy of the notes, in iCloud or anywhere else, cannot be read without it.
Just Plain Text never keeps a group's PIN as you typed it. It keeps only a scrambled form of it (a salted hash), from which the PIN cannot be found again.
Face ID is checked by your device. Just Plain Text never sees your face.
What Just Plain Text asks for
- Face ID, only when you open a locked group, or choose a new PIN after Forgot PIN?. Without Face ID, your device passcode.
Purchases
iCloud Synchronization is bought in the App Store. Apple tells Just Plain Text that you bought it. Apple does not tell us who you are, and we never see your payment details.
What goes over the network
- Your notes, to your own iCloud, if you bought iCloud Synchronization and it is on.
- The keys of your locked groups, to your iCloud Keychain, if it is on.
- Your purchase, to the App Store.
Nothing goes to us. Just Plain Text contacts no server of ours. It has no analytics, no advertising and no crash-reporting code of any kind.
Your data and your rights
We hold no data about you, so there is nothing for us to export, correct or delete.
Your notes are plain text. You can select and copy any note.
To delete your notes, delete them in Just Plain Text, or delete the app. If you use iCloud Synchronization, also delete the app's data from iCloud in your device's settings (Settings, your name, iCloud).
This website
justplaintext.eu counts page views with Vercel Analytics: which page, from which website, from which country, on which kind of device, in totals only. It uses no cookies and builds no profile of you. The app itself has no analytics.
Children
Just Plain Text collects no personal information from anyone, children included.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes too. If Just Plain Text ever needed to collect anything, the app would tell you first.
